Elizabeth Berrett

Elizabeth Berrett writes about invisible forces—divine and sinister—hiding in plain sight: in biotech labs, Vatican corridors, and wherever else it’s been overlooked.

Her debut novel, The Alchemy of Wonder, is an 85,000-word upmarket women’s fiction story with family saga and corporate thriller elements. It follows a disgraced geneticist who borrows a family friend’s identity to track down the mystery woman her pharmaceutical-CEO father nearly left everything for—only to uncover a shadow network suppressing curative science that threatens Big Pharma’s profits.

Before turning to fiction, Elizabeth spent three decades inside the rooms where institutional power operates. As a strategy consultant at McKinsey & Company, she worked behind the scenes of Fortune 100 decision-making and saw how quarterly earnings pressures sideline breakthroughs in favor of the bottom line. She later held C-suite roles in technology and the disaster-restoration industry—fields where she was often the only woman at the table. Those experiences inform the institutional pressures and psychological dynamics at the heart of The Alchemy of Wonder.

Elizabeth holds a liberal arts degree from UC San Diego and an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. She is also a certified executive coach, a Court of Master Sommeliers certified sommelier, and a classically trained Pilates instructor—because one career was never going to provide enough material for a writer.

Her next novel, Beyond the See, a Vatican thriller about a Swiss Guard who uncovers a plot to assassinate the pope, is slated for completion in August 2026.

She lives in Scottsdale, AZ.
